A task moves through a small number of visible states. Each one means something specific.

  • Todo — The task has been created and is waiting to start.
  • In progress — The team is actively working. The task thread shows what is happening.
  • Done — Finished successfully. The deliverable — a URL, an asset, a report — is attached.
  • Failed — The work could not complete. The thread explains why. You can retry.
  • Blocked — The team paused because they need a decision or extra input from you before continuing. The thread shows the question.
  • Cancelled — You cancelled the task. No further work happens and nothing more is charged.
  • Archived — A long-completed task collapsed out of the main view.

Failed and blocked differ in tone: failed means something went wrong; blocked means the team needs your input to continue.

Tasks do not auto-retry on failure — you decide whether to retry, redirect, or drop it. Replying inside the task thread is the simplest way to redirect.
