The Tasks board — lanes, layouts, and filters

What is the Tasks board?

Tasks in the sidebar is your company's whole work inventory. It has two layouts, switched at the top of the page: Task list (the default) and Kanban.

Task list is one continuous feed — what needs you, then what needs someone else, then what an agent is working on, then what is waiting, then what is done. Each row says who owns the next move and what it is waiting for.

Kanban shows the same work as four lanes: Needs human, Waiting, In progress, Done. Every Task sits in exactly one lane. Lanes are a read-only view of who owns the next move — you cannot drag a card, and a lane is not the Task's stored status. See Task states and what each means.

The switch sits above the work whenever the full list is showing. Opening a Task beside the list switches the page to Task list; pick Kanban again once you close it. A narrow screen keeps both layouts — Kanban stacks its four lanes into one column.

How do I filter the board?

The row above the work holds search, a + Filter button, and New task. Pick a dimension from the Filter menu and it becomes a chip you set:

  • Status — Open or Archived
  • Needs human — All, Mine, or a named person
  • Assigned to — appears once the work loaded on the page carries more than one owner name
  • Created by — All, plus whoever created the work loaded on the page: you, a teammate, Tycoon Agent, or System
  • Created — Any time, Today, Last 7 days, Last 30 days. Completed work is matched on the day it completed rather than the day it was created
  • Cadence — Any cadence, Recurring, One-time
  • Type — appears once the completed work loaded on the page carries types

Clear a chip to drop that dimension; Reset clears them all. One filter set applies to both layouts — the same chips narrow the Task list and the Kanban lanes alike. Status → Archived is the exception: archived work replaces both layouts with its own list. With a Task open beside the list, the row keeps search and New task; the chips and the layout switch come back when you close it.

Search matches a Task's title, number, description, owner, and latest update — and the same fields on its child tasks. Completed work is matched on its own fields instead: title, headline, summary, the title of a delivered doc or file, and number — so searching for an owner's name narrows the open work but not the finished work.

Where are archived tasks?

Choose + Filter → Status → Archived. Archived tasks appear as one flat list, most recent activity first; open one to restore it. Only top-level Tasks are listed — an archived sub-task stays part of its parent's story. Finished or cancelled work comes back in that same state. Unfinished work comes back queued — or waiting, if it still had a future wake time or event trigger saved — so a Task that was mid-execution returns to the queue rather than straight back to running.
