Frequently asked questions
Clear answers about wallet credit, usage, subscriptions, and how Tycoon charges for work.
Why do sales teams leave Outreach?
Three drivers: (1) Pricing — $1,800/user/year is hard to justify when equivalent feature sets exist at $50-$100/user/mo. (2) Deliverability — Google and Yahoo's 2024-2025 sender rules broke big cold-sending tools that don't rotate inboxes; Outreach's tooling here is thinner than Instantly or Smartlead. (3) The product shape — Outreach is a cadence builder for human SDRs, and founders increasingly want AI that does outbound end-to-end instead. Tycoon fits the third case.
Is Tycoon really ready to replace an SDR team?
For teams of 1-3 SDRs, often yes — Tycoon's AI CMO can run ICP research, list building, copy, sending, reply handling, and hand warm leads to the AE. For 10+ SDR teams, Tycoon can replace some of that capacity but Outreach or Salesloft still has specialized coaching, analytics, and manager tooling you'll want. The practical path: seed/Series A runs fully on Tycoon; mid-market runs Tycoon + Outreach for different books; enterprise keeps Outreach.
Which Outreach alternative has the best deliverability?
Instantly and Smartlead, clearly — they're built cold-email-first with mailbox rotation, warmup, and deliverability scoring as core features. Outreach, Salesloft, and Apollo all struggle more in 2026 because they were built as sequencing tools and bolted deliverability on later. If your outbound volume is >1,000 emails/day, you almost certainly need Instantly or Smartlead (or a specialized deliverability layer in front of Outreach).
Can I run outbound without any SDR tool at all?
Technically yes — some founders run outbound from Gmail with manual list building, and it works until ~50 emails/day. Above that, deliverability, personalization, and follow-up become too much manual work. That's where Instantly, Smartlead, Apollo, or Tycoon start paying for themselves. The key insight: the tool cost matters less than whether outbound is actually producing pipeline. Many founders spend $0 on tools and $0 on pipeline; others spend $500/mo and book 10 meetings/week.
Is the AI SDR category real yet?
Somewhat. Products like 11x, Regie.ai, AiSDR, and Reply's Jason AI claim 'AI replaces SDR' but in practice deliver spammy low-quality outbound that kills your domain reputation. The quality is improving fast — Tycoon's AI CMO, run by Claude 4.6 with proper research and personalization, produces outbound that converts at SDR-or-better rates. The difference is care: AI + research + careful sending wins; AI + volume + blind sends doesn't. Category is real, but tool choice matters.
