An autonomous agent is an AI system capable of independently executing complete workstreams from start to finish without requiring human micro-management. It perceives its task environment through tools, APIs, and context feeds, reasons about the best course of action, executes multi-step plans, evaluates results, and self-corrects when it detects errors — all within the boundaries and permissions its human supervisor has defined.
