FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Clear answers about wallet credit, usage, subscriptions, and how Tycoon charges for work.
Is Zapier an AI agent platform?
Partially. Zapier's core is still trigger-based automation (Zaps), but they've added Zapier AI Actions (let LLMs invoke Zaps) and Zapier Agents (longer-running AI workflows). Those are real products, but they sit on top of automation infrastructure — the mental model is still 'when X happens, do Y'. Tycoon starts from a different primitive: a team of AI roles that decide what needs to happen.
Can Zapier replace a CMO or COO?
No. Zapier can replace the mechanical parts of a CMO/COO's job (scheduling, routing, notifications, CRM updates) but not the decisions (what to promote, who to hire next, which channel to double down on). Tycoon ships an AI CMO and AI COO that make those decisions inside the guardrails you set. If you want plumbing, use Zapier; if you want a function owner, use Tycoon.
Which is cheaper?
Depends on shape. Zapier starts free and scales with tasks: $19.99/mo (750 tasks), $49/mo (2000 tasks), $103.50/mo (10k tasks). Tycoon is free to start with usage-based pricing (~$50-$500/mo for full AI team). For pure automation volume, Zapier is usually cheaper. For running strategic work (content, support, research, analysis), Tycoon is cheaper because one 'talk to AI CMO' replaces 20 Zaps.
Should I use both Zapier and Tycoon?
Yes — they complement each other. Zapier handles the high-volume SaaS-to-SaaS plumbing where the logic is clear (new Stripe customer → add to CRM → send welcome email). Tycoon handles the strategic work (write the welcome email, decide the CRM segmentation, figure out what onboarding should look like). Many Tycoon users connect Tycoon to Zapier via webhook to trigger Zaps from AI decisions.
Can Zapier Agents run my company?
Not the way Tycoon can. Zapier Agents are multi-step AI workflows that still live in Zapier's automation model — you scope them to specific tasks, not company-wide operations. There's no AI CEO coordinating other agents, no skills marketplace of pre-built roles, no governance layer for autonomous action. For a founder who wants a team-shaped AI, Tycoon's architecture fits; for someone who wants smarter Zaps, Zapier Agents fits.
